M83 – Reunion

M83 is the electronic music project of French artist Anthony Gonzalez. It is named after the spiral galaxy Messier 83.

The band was founded in 2001 by Gonzalez and former member Nicolas Fromageau. The musical style of M83 owes something to the shoegazing genre in its extensive use of reverb effects and lyrics spoken softly over loud instrumentals, although M83′s songs employ considerably less guitar than most shoegazing bands.

In 2004 Gonzalez and Fromageau parted ways shortly after touring for their second album Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts. Gonzalez now records mainly on his own, often with the help of his brother Yann Gonzalez, vocalist/keyboardist Morgan Kibby, guitarist/bassist Pierre-Marie Maulini, and drummer Loïc Maurin.

Reunion is the second single taken from the album, Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming, out now.

Lower Dens – Propagation

Baltimore dream-rock band Lower Dens are William Adams, Geoffrey Graham, Jana Hunter, Nate Nelson and Carter Tanton. The band is one of many side projects from singer/songwriter Hunter.

Lower Dens has a sound that is psychedelic and murky, embodying the experimental nature of the Baltimore music scene with songs that are equal parts reverb-drenched folk and swirling ambience. In 2010, the band released its full-length debut, Twin-Hand Movement. In the months that followed the group would refine their sound through touring and experimentation.

Propagation is taken from their new album Nootropics. Pronounced no-eh-tro-pics, the title refers to a type of drug used to enhance memory or other cognitive functions. The album is the second of a four-album cycle that the band had planned from the very beginning of its existence.

Blood Orange – I’m Sorry We Lied

Devonté Hynes, better known as Lightspeed Champion or Blood Orange, is a British composer, songwriter, producer and author, who has written for artists such as Florence and the Machine, Diana Vickers and The Chemical Brothers.

Hynes was born in Houston, Texas but was raised in Essex, England from the age of 2. He currently resides in New York where he has been concentrating on writing and producing for other artists. He simultaneously worked on songs in his bedroom, compiling them onto mixtapes that he would listen to while traveling around the city at night, letting the city’s nocturnal ecosystem seep into the music in his headphones.

With Lightspeed Champion on effective haitus, Dev decided to concentrate on a new musical project more focused on electronica called Blood Orange. I’m Sorry We Lied is taken from his full-length record Coastal Grooves, released in August 2011.
